In the article “Preclinical Studies With Erlotinib (Tarceva),” volume 30, no 3, supplement 7 to the June 2003 issue of Seminars in Oncology, Table 1, page 16: under the HER1/EGFR heading, the IC₅₀ value for erlotinib is 0.02 μmol/L—this value is for autophosphorylation in intact cells. The IC₅₀ value given for gefitinib is for the isolated tyrosine kinase. Therefore, to accurately compare these agents, the IC₅₀ for erlotinib against the isolated tyrosine kinase should have been presented (0.002 μmol/L erlotinib versus 0.023 μmol/L gefitinib).
